Christmas Market —A Great Success Story

Categories: News

The Parish Christmas Market made a very welcome return to Malahide on the first Saturday in December raising €11,000 for parish funds, which is a very commendable effort in these stringent economic times.

Coming so soon after the Bicentenary Service, it involved even more hard work!

While this is a great result, it was even more gratifying to see parishioners socialise in a way that they had not done for so very long due to successive Covid lockdowns.

There was a real buzz on the day and the teas, coffees and festive refreshments were all kept extremely busy.

Thank you to all involved and especially to the Fundraising Group.

The Rector writes: “This was my first Christmas Market, and to be honest, I wasn’t too sure what to expect.

“But I needn’t have worried because everyone just seemed to know what they were to do and got on with it.

“The Fundraising Group, under the leadership of Hazel Bolton, bore the brunt of the organisation and we are grateful to them and to those they encouraged to join them as the big day approached.

“Any event that raising €11,000 represents a lot of hard work but it was worth it all, especially to see so many people turn up on the day and enjoy being in each other’s company once again.”

Next year’s Christmas Market will revert to the regular date of the last Saturday in November in 2023.
